The Great Changehosis, Vacuums, and the Battle for the New Crown

Change isn’t just an industry trend; it is biological. From the cellular level to the stadium lights, our biology compels us to evolve, to seek out new spaces, and to shift when the old structures begin to lean. Right now, across global sports and local soundscapes, we are witnessing a massive genetic restructuring of cultural power. The goats are stepping back, the crown is up for grabs, and everyone is scrambling for a piece of the cake.

Consider the landscape. We watched the final, definitive World Cup chapters of Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar—a generational triumvirate that defined global football for nearly two decades. Simultaneously, the Nigerian modern music scene is experiencing an identical tectonic shift. The absolute titans who carried Afrobeats to the global stage are transitioning into legacy states.

Whenever absolute power shifts, it creates a vacuum. And nature abhors a vacuum.

The 2016 Phenomenon

This isn't the first time culture has faced a massive changing of the guard. Look back at hip-hop in 2016. There was a sudden, chaotic explosion of new talent that completely bypassed the traditional gatekeepers. The "old heads" and industry veterans quickly realized they couldn't stop the tide, so they shifted strategy: they stopped fighting the new wave and started looking for stake, equity, and mentorship opportunities within it.

We are seeing that exact blueprint play out today in the music industry. Artists are dropping music at an unprecedented rate because the horizon is wide open. The next generation of superstars is actively stepping into the light, and the legacy players are hustling to anchor themselves to this new energy before the cement dries.

The Law of Metamorphosis: Power is never truly destroyed; it is merely transferred. When the giants move on, the architecture of the entire ecosystem adapts to fit the new rulers.

This era of metamorphosis is a reminder that culture operates just like our own genes. We are coded to seek out change from the smallest, most granular local subcultures to the absolute biggest platforms in life. The old crowns are being packed away into museums, and the new ones are being forged in real-time. It’s chaotic, it’s fast, and it is entirely necessary for survival. change is coming

Identity

This piece explores the fundamental formation of the self through a Jungian lens, examining the transformative journey of shedding the identity imposed upon us by external forces to realize our authentic nature. By bridging the nature versus nurture debate, this article analyzes how we intentionally dismantle our personas to reconstruct ourselves, ultimately striving toward the attainment of a transcendent, god-like identity.
